THE NEW MAN when we bath after a hard days work, we usually put off the old garment which is full of sweat and have ourselves put on a new garment. when the blood of Jesus cleanses a man, he becomes a new creation as Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:17. and everything new requires a new cover as Jesus said in Mark 2:22 that no one puts new wine into old wine skin, so the new man needs a new new skin (a new self) in order to be preserved. Therefore we need to put off the old corrupted self and have ourselves put on the new self that is renewed in the knowledge of Christ to the image of him who created us. Jesus came to nail our sins on the cross and we also have to nail our old self to the cross- we need to crucify the old nature in us. In Galatians 2:20, Paul said that i have been crucified with Christ and i no longer lives but it is Christ that lives in me. If we really want to live the Christlike life, then the old self which is ruled by the flesh must be crucified. Put on the new self which has been renewed through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
